5 Small Ways to Practice Self-Love

I firmly believe that practicing self-love is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your happiness. It’s so vital to take time to take care of yourself and remind yourself that you are worthy of love and care. Here are some of the small, easy ways that I practice self-love every single day; they’re great preventative measures to protect yourself from stress and burnout.

ONE // Stay Inspired

While I’m getting ready in the morning, doing my skincare routine at night, or commuting anywhere, I constantly watch YouTube videos and listen to podcasts. Those times when you’re simply completing a task that doesn’t require much thought are the best times to squeeze in a dose of inspiration and learning. I love beauty YouTubers and podcasts about women in business; find something that really speaks to you and gets you excited to start your day as a kick-ass lady. TWO // Work From Bed

Ok, before you freak out about how bad of an idea this is, let me explain. I am not saying that you should make working from bed or the couch a habit, because it’s likely that you would be much more productive at a desk. Some days, though, it’s okay to be a little more gentle with yourself – practice some self-love and take it easy. As long as you can still get your work done from a comfy position, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t let yourself indulge in some couch time if you’re not feeling the desk chair today.

THREE // Indulge in Something Small

When I’m struggling to get through a long afternoon or a really boring class, I like to indulge in something small that will make the time a little bit more enjoyable. For me, that’s usually a chai latte or an especially indulgent snack – just something small that is a bit of a treat; it’s the easiest way to practice self-love. For some reason class is a little more bearable when you have something delicious to sip on to keep you occupied and awake.

FOUR // Paint Your Nails

This goes for any little bit of pampering that relaxes you and makes you feel good. I like to take the time to give myself a manicure because that’s something that I absolutely love to do. It makes me feel really good for the next couple of days when my nails look great. For you this could be taking a relaxing bath,  getting a massage, or applying a face mask – whatever works for you and fits your schedule and budget.

FIVE // Buy the Lipstick

There’s definitely something to be said for budgeting, but sometimes you should just buy the lipstick! Treat yourself to a little something that will make you feel more confident and beautiful. When you look good, you feel good, and when I have something new and exciting to put on in the morning it’s always a little bit easier to get out of bed and get going.

  • I love podcasts! I came across the Lively show a couple months ago and I have been addicted ever since! I am even taking her life with intention online course right now and I am loving it!
