Hello, friends! It has been a long time, so we have some catching up to do.
Last Tuesday, I returned to school after an entire month on Christmas break. Getting back into a routine is always welcome, but returning to class is rough; hence, it’s been a little quiet over here in my corner of the internet.
The past month was a whirlwind of traveling and fun mixed with intense periods of lazy relaxation. I traveled to Ireland for two weeks, back home to Indianapolis for a week, spent a week in Cincinnati, and then a weekend in Kentucky for a wedding before returning to Philly. I jam-packed every second of my last Christmas break, and it was without a doubt the most fun I’ve ever had on break.
Today I’m sharing some favorites from the past month, along with some of my goals for 2017. I’m so excited for what this year will bring; so much of my near future is completely unknown, so it will be both fun and scary to see how things pan out.
So what’s been on my radar over the past weeks?
As you can probably imagine, I’m a big fan of the Great British Bake Off (I have the soul of a 90 year old British woman). This holiday special was just as fabulous as the original BBC show, and the best thing is that you can watch the entire season online for free!! Nothing is more relaxing to watch; this show makes me incredibly happy! Highly recommend watching with some chocolate and a cup of tea.
Two // Aziz Ansari’s SNL Monologue
I just stumbled across this video on Facebook this morning, and I couldn’t believe how strongly it resonated with me. Regardless of your political views, this will make you laugh…and think. Aziz is so funny and real; if you haven’t seen his Netflix show you must check it out! It’s a quick watch that’s both funny and strangely poignant.
Three // Outlander
I’ve been raving about the Outlander series for so, so long. I seriously try to get anyone who will listen to read it. I’m finally almost finished with the most recent book and I can now safely say that this series is my favorite of ALL TIME. It’s about a woman who accidentally travels back in time into the Scottish Highlands in the 1700s (sounds kind of lame, I promise it’s not). If you like history, romance, and adventure this is a must read.
Four // Salad (ugh.)
I’m trying so hard to start this year out on the right foot when it comes to making health and fitness a part of my daily routine. In my experience, if you treat it like a hassle, you’re probably not going to end up following through on your goals. I’ve been attempting to create non-boring salads so that it’s easier to stick to eating them for lunch every day. I prepare some hard boiled eggs and quinoa at the beginning of the week and then all I have to do is add them to some arugula, avocado, tomatoes, and balsamic dressing. It’s definitely the yummiest salad I’ve ever made, so I’m hoping I can stick with it! In terms of workouts, I’m a big fan of Tone it Up and Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube. Hopefully I’ll also get some cardio in at the gym each week, but home workouts tend to work a lot better for me.
Five // 2017 Blogging Goals
To be honest, I’m not off to a great start, but I want to kick things into high gear around here for the new year. I’m only taking four classes this semester, so now is the time to be dedicating as much free time as possible to my blog! The gray, rainy weather and a busy first week of school prevented me from shooting an outfit for this week, but I think we need a bit more lifestyle content around here anyways!
