Ladies Who Lunch: Tina’s Traditional Tearoom

Tea at Tina's Traditional British Tearoom in Carmel, IN

Last week, I went home to Indianapolis to see my family for fall break. On Friday, my mum and I went to Tina’s Traditional Tearoom in Carmel, Indiana, and it was fabulous. If you’re ever in Indy and you want a fun girly activity, this was such a fun indulgence – we ate until we couldn’t eat anymore.

Pretty Teacup

Tea is without a doubt one of my favorite things on this planet. There’s something so comforting about a cup of tea; I genuinely believe that it can help cure pretty much anything. I’ve also always been a huge Anglophile, which is somewhat ironic considering how Irish I am (and considering the only place I’ve ever actually been in the UK was Heathrow airport for a layover when I was about four). Nevertheless, I collect royal commemorative teacups (I’m so lame) and I adore all things British.

A lovely spot of tea!

Tina’s Tearoom was so cozy and cute – exactly my style, especially the mismatched china.

We indulged in the sausage roll, Cornish pasty, Walker’s Cheese & Onion crisps (I know this doesn’t sound that appealing, but they’re a staple in England and Ireland and they’re one of my favorite things), a cheese scone, and sultana scones with lavender jam, raspberry jam, and clotted cream.

To wash it all down? Delicious, citrusy Lady Grey tea that stayed warm under a tea cozy printed with the Union Jack. How charming!

Nothing better than a pot of tea

Scones with jam and cream

The scones were unbelievably delicious – and I’d consider myself to be a pretty expert scone baker, so I’m difficult to please. These were top notch, especially with the raspberry jam and clotted cream. (which is pretty difficult to find in the states!) This is not the place to take it easy on the embellishments, ladies – pile on that cream!

These tissue turtlenecks from J. Crew are my new favorites – I bought a striped one as well. They’re super thin and soft, and just a great basic to dress up with a skirt or dress down with jeans.

Speaking of jeans, these burgundy ones are so surprisingly versatile for the fall and winter.

My cuddly cardigan is the perfect neutral color; it can be thrown on over everything to look a bit more put together and keep toasty warm.

These BOOTS are so gorgeous and so inexpensive!! I’ve been living in them, and I just adore them – the heel height is so flattering.

Annnnd, of course, I’m still obsessed with my shades from Ashley Nicole Eyewear. The tortoiseshell is so classic (and one of my favorite things) but the style is the perfect dose of trendiness.

Have you ever been to a tearoom? I want to hear about it!
